Granite water features like this polished black millstone fountain bring beauty and personality to any garden.  People are attracted to water, just the soothing sound alone releases energy into the air.  There are a number of sculptural choices to set on the top of these types of water features.  There is a plastic prefabricated basin set into the ground with decorative stone placed over the top.  Water spills over the edge of the polished granite millstone, drains through the pebbles and into the basin below.  There is a small fountain pump in the basin that recirculates the water up the through the mill stone.  Not much space is required for millstone water features like this one, which makes them an excellent option for any small garden.

The installation of this fountain is fairly easy.  Once you choose the location for your fountain, simply dig a hole to receive the plastic basin and set into the ground, so that the top is level and back fill the excess space with sand.  You can also hook up an auto fill to maintain the proper water level.  We often do this by connecting a line to an automatic irrigation system, when available.  if you do not have an irrigation system and want to keep things simple, you can fill your water feature with your garden hose.  You can also plug your fountain pump into a timer that will automatically turns the pump on in the morning and off at night.   Another switching option to consider is wireless remote control on/off.

When choosing the water feature that is right for you, you should consider the placement, the sound and style.  The fountain shown is a polished black millstone fountain.  You can also consider using wood, bamboo, copper, glass and other materials.
